To become a PADI Master Instructor you must:

Be a certified PADI IDC Staff Instructor (IDCS)
Have issued at least 150 PADI certifications – at least 50 continuing education certs, 5 rescue certs, 5 Divemaster certs and 15 specialty certs
Have staffed at least 2 Instructor Development Courses in full
Have participated in 3 PADI seminars
Be able to demonstrate support for PADI’s efforts within aquatic conservation
Have proof of CPR and FIRST AID training within the last 24 months (the “EFR” Emergency First Responder course meets this requirement)

Staffing Instructor Development Courses:

As you progress towards becoming a PADI Master Instructor, you will have the invaluable opportunity to play a vital role in the training and development of aspiring dive instructors. During two comprehensive Instructor Development Courses (IDCs), you will serve as a Staff Instructor, honing your own skills while guiding and mentoring future dive professionals.

In this role, you will take on various responsibilities, ensuring the smooth operation of the IDCs. You will be involved in organizing and setting up the training sessions, overseeing knowledge development, and facilitating confined water and open water training. With your expertise, you will evaluate candidate performance, offering valuable feedback and conducting counseling sessions to support their growth and improvement throughout the course.

Additionally, as a Staff Instructor, you will have the opportunity to lead sections of the IDC Prep course. This involves conducting dive theory reviews, helping candidates solidify their understanding of important concepts, and guiding them through skill circuits in the pool. Your guidance and support will contribute significantly to their preparation for the final stages of the IDC.
